All The DLL's/Driver's You'll Ever Needcooline.gif (479 bytes)

You need a DRIVER url at times AND what's a DLL anyway??

blue_line.jpg (2430 bytes)

DLL's, it's a collection of useful routines that perform common functions are gathered together into Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs). A DLL is simply a special form of EXE module with no main entry point. It contains parts of programs, but is not itself an application. Routines in the DLL are "exported" by name. These routines are added to a table that allows other programs to call the routine and request the service.

Look up your missing DLL alphabetically:

Download it on the spot. Can't find what you're after then leave a request on their message board.

TIP: FIX those DLL conflicts:

Do yourself a favor and obtain a $20 set of (6 or so) utilities. The utilities are available by download from Barry Press at:

http://venus.aros.net/~press/utilities/utilities.htm

Even though this is directed at W98, the Utilities works for W95, w98's Version Conflict Manager (VCM) doesn't tell you what applications used a particular file or which version of the file would be "better." Here's a procedure that can help you recover.

1. After installing Win98, start the VCM Utility from System Information, Tools, Version Conflict Manager.

2. If VCM shows any files that have different version numbers, your original file or files will have been moved to the C:\Windows\VCM folder. Rather than tinker with the files manually, it's better to use VCM to swap them, if you determine in Step 6 that swapping them is desirable.

3. To determine whether any of your applications are dependent upon one of the files listed in VCM, crank up DLLMan.

4. After installing BP Utilities, run the DLLMan program. Click File, Open, then select a file that is listed in VCM. (For example, try C:\Windows\System\DaDaDa32.dll.)
You will see a window showing other resources that DaDaDa32.dll is dependent upon.
DLL's that cannot be found will be shown in red; DLL's that are found will be followed by the complete path name of the file Windows will use for that DLL.

5. To see the programs that are dependent upon the DLL you've selected, click Search, Set Search Root, then select a drive to search (normally C:). Then click Search, Locate Usage. DLLMan will take a few moments while it searches your hard drive for programs with dependencies on your chosen DLL. (DLLMan can't see dependencies in some programs, notably Visual Basic programs.) If you see a message that a program file is in use, simply click OK and DLLMan will continue. If a DLL is missing, you can use the Search.Locate DLL command to find the necessary file if it exists on your system.

6. If DLLMan lists an application that uses a file changed by Win98, test the application carefully. If it crashes, use VCM to swap the two file versions. When you do this, VCM saves the swapped-out file in the C:\Windows\VCM folder with the file extension changed to .000. You can use VCM to change back at any time.
